We just talked about the different areas of the alimentary tracts in the video lectures. I divided the alimentary tract into four main components listed below.
Pre-Small Intestine
Small Intestine
Large Intestine
Post Large Intestine
For each component there are particular organs, enzymes, and hormones that are included in each component. For instance, review the example that is provided for Fish. For this activity, I have assigned one person to one of the animal classifications to the left (Avian, Hindgut Fermenters, Non-Ruminants, and Ruminants). For each classification, there are 4 animals. You will be examining a different step of the digestive process for each animal.
Use your video lecture notes and Internet Search skills to identify different parts, enzymes, and hormones of the alimentary tract for each animal. Then describe their function. You only need to write about what we talked about in class. If we didn't discuss an enzyme that you found on the internet, you don't need to put it down.
If you have questions, post them to the "Help on Assignments" discussion area of D2L.
